  1. I’m sorry I don’t remember what year it was, but I was a performer at a Yepes Master Class in NYC. It was one of the most nerve wracking experiences I can ever remember. He was very tough on many of the other players but I think he was just treating me nicely because he was kind of patronizing me. Could it be because I am a woman? I’m not sure. But I wish I could recall where and when that took place. Anybody know?

  2. Hi MaryAnn,
It was at the new location of Juan Orosco’s, which had moved from right behind Carnegie Hall to somewhere in the Village. I’m not sure of the exact address. Also, I know it was about 1983 because it was before my NY Debut, which was in 1984. I was trying out a piece that I thought I might put in the debut concert, that’s how I know it was before.
I remember it well, because I was one of the people he was very tough on in the class! I went before you and it didn’t go well, I will tell more of this encounter later. Clearly he didn’t seem to realize we were husband and wife, because he treated you great!

  3. Hi MaryAnn,
I just made a major discovery!!! While looking through old tapes I found the tapes of the exact Yepes master class you were asking about. I haven’t listened to them yet , so I don’t know how degraded they are after all these years. I really didn’t know where these were until about a half hour ago.
I will eventually digitize them and post them on Facebook for our Yepes group. In any case the date was on them, so that already answers one main question you had!
    It was October 10,1982.
Your husband, Jim, you know, the guy in the next room frantically looking for Yepes artifacts.

  7. Hi Frank,
Can you elaborate on that? What about Passapied by Salvador Barcarisse, I know what you think about that but someone else reading this may not.
